heels on

Summary

"High heels do look good on you.”

Orym tries on high heels.

“You know, Orym, if you’d like to be a little taller you could just try on my heels.”

“I appreciate the gesture but, uh. I don’t think I’d fit.”

Fearne chuckles lightly as Orym looks up at her.

“Well, if you think my hooves would fit into regular heels…”

Most of the time, Fearne doesn’t wear shoes. Orym supposes that it only makes sense with the goat legs and her hooves. But from time to time, despite already being very tall, Fearne grows a few inches taller still. Orym has seen her heels only a couple of times since Fearne’s legs and hooves are most often hidden underneath layers upon layers of her voluminous skirt, but they do look pretty.

Not that Orym would know much about this. He doesn’t have any sense of fashion, always choosing practicability over aesthetics when it comes to his clothes.

“They’re very magical”, Fearne says with a serious nod.

“I don’t think heels would be very practical in battle—“, Orym starts hesitantly but Fearne dismisses him with a shake of her head and a gesture.

“We’re not in battle right now. Do you wanna try?”

Orym looks up at Fearne’s big, excited eyes, then down at the ground where her skirt hides the heels in question.

“Um—“

He wants to ask about what will happen if he breaks both of his legs because he’s never walked on heels before, but he’s distracted when Fearne lifts up her skirt and takes off her mint green heels.

They are very pretty.

As he looks at them they shrink down, much like other magical items that he’s seen.

“So—uh. What do they do?”, he asks.

“Make you taller. And look pretty”, Fearne says with a wide smile as she offers her shoes to Orym.

“I mean, aside from that.”

Fearne cocks her head.

“I would say that fitting someone with hooves is pretty magical for a pair of shoes, Orym.”

Orym has nothing to debate this with and hesitantly stretches out his hands to take the heels from Fearne. Looking down at his own, brown leather boots he wonders if he’ll even manage to stand up at all while wearing them.

Fearne seems completely unconcerned.

She kneels down on the floor and starts undoing the buckles on Orym’s shoes, something that makes his cheeks grow warm.

“I can do that, you know?”

“I know”, Fearne says but doesn’t stop until she’s finished.

“Go on! Put them on!”

Orym takes a deep breath and sighs before sitting down on his bed to put on the mint green heels that fit so well with Fearne’s dress and her ribbons and not at all with his mostly brown attire.

The second the shoes touch his feet they start to shrink even further until they’re the perfect size for Orym’s feet. Fearne watches in delight as he stands up, wobbling slightly on his feet, ever so thankful for his dexterous reflexes.

“Oh, it looks so pretty! How do you feel?”

Orym chuckles nervously.

“Tall? Wobbly.”

Fearne starts unwrapping one of her many ribbons as Orym tries to take two hesitant steps. His ankle promptly gives in and he falters, barely catching himself on a chair.

“You’ll get used to it. Here”, Fearne says and gently fastens a bow to his upper arm. “Perfect.”

“Do I look like a birthday present now?”, Orym jokes.

“High heels do look good on you, so you could be someone’s birthday present for sure”, Fearne answers with a smile. She stretches out her hands for Orym to take and helps him take a few more steps towards a milky, old mirror.

It could be worse, Orym supposes as he looks at himself.

“Still way smaller than you”, he says faintly. Fearne giggles.

“Most people are smaller than me, don’t worry about it. Do you like it?”

“Yeah. Yeah, I think I do.”
