Campaign 1 and The Legend of Vox Machina Fics
Sorted by Rating
General
- Just Little Old Me in a Big, Big World - Keyleth/Vax'ildan; Percival de Rolo/Vex'ahlia; Orym/Will - Following the conversations about the De Rolos, Orym finds himself remembering the memories he's not willing to share. He's not Bertrand, he'll keep his meetings with the Lord and Lady of Whitestone quiet. He just can't help but remember how they had once helped him. AKA: Keyleth stepped up to help a newly out young guard in her service decades ago and went above and beyond to try and help another trans member of the Ashari
- This is how it feels to take a fall - Percival de Rolo/Vex'ahlia - Growing up, there was a particular story he was most fond of, about a boy who built himself a pair of wings and flew away from prison, only to go too far to the sun and have Palor melt his wings until he fell and drowned. The story fascinated him as a child, in particular the dream of an invention so wonderful that it would grant one freedom, but he always thought the boy stupid for flying straight towards the sun. What a waste of a brilliant mind, he thought, sure that he would never make a mistake that stupid.
- three months on a boat at the end of the world - Gen - The crew had picked him out of the harbor at the mouth of the river. They had thought he was dead. He was a curious specimen. He had glasses of very fine make and half a tattered outfit, but he had very expensive looking boots, were they not completely waterlogged. He was covered in wounds that looked very deliberate. On the deck, it was clear that he was a boy, who had been badly treated, and not a man, despite the white hair.
(Or, Percy spent some time on a fishing boat, after leaving Whitestone)
Teen and Up
- Blackout - Vax'ildan/Scanlan Shorthalt/Grog Strongjaw - The group celebrates saving Whitestone but Vax'ildan is left trying to drown his sorrows from Keyleth's rejection. It can only go so well.
- bloodbeat - Gen - Vax fights it, he really tries, but his limbs won't fucking listen. His heart pounds faster, and he can hear the rushing of his blood in his ears, as the reality of what's happening, of how alone he is, sets in.
(A longer version of the Briarwoods and Vax scene from TLOVM Episode 3, focusing on Vax's internal monologue as he fights for his life.)
- cause something's boiling in my blood - Gen - Vex and Percy, speaking of the odds.
- Evening Wood - Percival de Rolo/Scanlan Shorthalt - It's a late night in the woods when Keyleth hears something strange and she investigates.
- Harbinger of Change (For Better Or For Worse) - Gen - Archibald Desnay is left to die painfully in a dungeon, sees a ghost, and then watches a house burn down. Here's what he thought about that.
- in the lion's den - Gen - Vax is caught. Vax should run. Vax should fight. Why can't he run? Why can't he fight?
- Is It February Yet? - Gen - Welcome to Febuwhump 2022! 28 days of pain and suffering, for your reading pleasure! Stories will span all three main campaigns plus the animated series, and will generally be focused on the friendship/found family relationships (I'm not much of a shipper).
- mirror images - Gen - Walking through Exandria with part of your soul on display makes it all the more important to know someone's got your back. The twins have always relied on one another, and their daemons, but they never expected to find even a single soul like the seven that are brought together under the banner of Vox Machina.
- objects in motion stay in motion - Gen - The things inside you that were dead are coming alive again.
- pull the trigger, percy - Gen - Percy fires faster than Orthax can stop him.
- so it seems I'm someone I've never meet - Shaun Gilmore/Vax'ildan - When Sylas drinks him dry, Vax knows he's dead. The possibility of that not happening didn't even cross his mind, and yet, here he is.
- unreflection - Gen - Percival and his daemon Vasilissa are reminded of versions of themselves they would prefer to forget.
- you're alone 'til you're not alone - Gen - It's a long walk back to Emon.
When a blessing doesn't work, you blame the priest.
Mature
- savoring before drinking - Delilah Briarwood/Sylas Briarwood/Vax'ildan - Vax has finally succeeded in causing a distraction. The Briarwoods are now engaging in a silent conversation of raised eyebrows and nodding, sending the kind of private messages that partners of long relationships are capable of deciphering. They're clearly making some sort of decision. About what, he's not sure.
More importantly: their attention is diverted. Vax could run.
But....well, he hadn't been lying when he'd said they were a good looking pair. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to stay for just a little while longer.
Explicit
- charmeause - Percival de Rolo/Vex'ahlia - “I was, um. Don’t take this the wrong way, but I was expecting something smaller,” he laughs, reaching out to gently swish the satin against her hip.
“Smaller?” Vex takes a step back, and peers down at herself beneath the hem of her dress. “Smaller than this, even?”
He cringes, and shakes his head. “No, no– I mean. Not as… high of a caliber of a gift. Not as affecting.” Percy takes the material of the hem between his fingers and absently feels at the embroidery, eyes locked onto her and her scrunched nose of confusion. “When you said you’d be right back, my mind had gone to those little rabbit slippers, not… lingerie.”
- In His Element - Percival de Rolo/Vex'ahlia - it's a face-sitting fic, what more could you want?
- Sweet and Deadly is the Night - Delilah Briarwood/Sylas Briarwood/Vax'ildan - “I came to investigate,” Vax gasped out, not daring to look away from Delilah, who was looking at him with a predatory gaze. Did she just bat her eyelashes at him? “Percy told me you were dangerous.”
“Is that so?” she chuckled, leaning forward with her head resting in one hand. She looked at Vax up and down. “He’s right, you know. We are dangerous. Especially when my husband is hungry.” Vax shuddered as he felt something cool and sharp press into his neck. Were those…teeth? The incisors nipped gently into his shoulder, causing him to yelp slightly, but they retreated just as quickly, not deep enough to draw blood. He felt Sylas’s low chuckle vibrate through him.
“Lucky for you,” Sylas said in a low, husky voice into his ear. “I like to play with my food.”
- Crimson Conduct - Delilah Briarwood/Sylas Briarwood/Vax'ildan - Vax gets caught in the Briarwoods room. It goes ... well :)
(inspired by That Scene, because we were all thinking it. This time Vax just fails his charm save)
